The short answer
SnIPPETsX is a free website for code snippets. Paste or write a snippet at snippetsx.com and it gets a shareable URL, syntax highlighting for 40+ languages and a run button. Snippets can be set to expire or self-destruct after one view, Pro users can make them private or read-only, and anyone you share one with can edit alongside you in real time.
- Creating and sharing a snippet does not require an account.
- Snippets can expire after anything from two minutes to 30 days, or after a single view.
- Signed-in users get a personal snippet library and team workspaces.
What makes SnIPPETsX different from a paste site
Most snippet sites store text. You paste a block of code, get a link, and the person on the other end reads it. SnIPPETsX treats a snippet as a small working environment instead: the link opens an editor, the code is highlighted for its language, and a Run button executes it in a sandboxed container so you can check that it actually works before you share it.
Snippets are collaborative by default. When a teammate, interviewer or student opens your link they see your cursor and you see theirs, and every keystroke syncs in real time. That makes a snippet useful for the conversation that usually follows sharing code — "this line is wrong", "try it like this" — without switching to a screen share.
You stay in control of how long code lives. Any snippet can be set to self-destruct on a timer or after a single view, and on Pro it can also be private or locked to read-only for review, which is handy for config files, tokens in a debugging session, or interview questions you do not want indexed.
Signed-in users keep their snippets in a personal library, group them into team workspaces with owner, admin and member roles, embed live snippets in blogs and docs, and on paid plans create and manage snippets over the REST API.
Key features
- One Link Per Snippet — The address bar is the share link. Send it in chat, email or a ticket and the formatting survives.
- Runnable Snippets — Execute Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, Rust and more without leaving the snippet.
- Expiring & Private — Self-destructing links on every plan, plus private and read-only snippets on Pro.
How to share a code snippet
- Open SnIPPETsX — Go to snippetsx.com and click Start Session. A new snippet opens instantly.
- Paste your snippet — Paste or type your code and pick the language for syntax highlighting.
- Set an expiry — Optionally add an expiry timer or one-view self-destruct. Pro users can also make it private or read-only.
- Share the URL — Copy the link from the address bar. Anyone who opens it can view, run and co-edit the snippet.
Frequently asked questions
What is a code snippet?
A code snippet is a small, reusable piece of source code — a function, a query, a config block or an example — that you save or share on its own rather than as part of a full project.
Where can I save and share code snippets for free?
On SnIPPETsX. Creating, sharing, running and collaborating on snippets is free and needs no account. Signing in adds a personal snippet library; paid plans raise storage limits.
Can I keep my snippets private?
Snippets are unlisted by default, so only people with the link can find them, and any snippet can expire after a time limit or a single view. Pro adds fully private snippets and read-only mode.
Which languages do snippets support?
Syntax highlighting covers 40+ languages. Snippets in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, C++, C#, Go, Rust, Ruby, PHP and SQL can also be executed, and HTML/CSS snippets render as a live preview.
