Free Typing Speed Test & Coding Typing Practice
Take a free typing speed test. Measure your WPM, accuracy and consistency live, practise typing real code in 10+ languages, and race friends 1v1. No signup needed.
Test your typing speed in 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds, or by word count. SnIPPETsX measures net WPM, raw WPM, accuracy and rhythm consistency in real time with a millisecond-precise clock.
Developer mode lets programmers practise typing real code — JavaScript, Python, TypeScript, Java, C++, Go, Rust, SQL and more — including brackets, symbols and indentation.
Race a friend in a live 1v1 typing race, take the daily challenge, and drill the words you miss most with weak-word practice.
Frequently asked questions
How is typing speed (WPM) calculated?
Words per minute is the number of correctly typed characters divided by 5 (the standard word length), divided by the elapsed time in minutes. Raw WPM counts every keystroke, including mistakes.
How is typing accuracy measured?
Accuracy is the share of all keystrokes that were correct. Mistakes you fix with backspace still count against accuracy, so it reflects how precisely you actually typed.
What is a good typing speed?
The average typist reaches about 40 WPM. 60–70 WPM is considered fast, and professional typists and competitive racers often exceed 100 WPM with 97%+ accuracy.
What is the typing consistency score?
Consistency measures how even your per-second typing speed is. A steady rhythm scores close to 100%; bursts followed by long pauses score lower.
Can I practise typing real code?
Yes. Developer mode uses real snippets in JavaScript, Python, TypeScript, Java, C++, Go, Rust, SQL and more, so you can practise brackets, symbols and indentation the way you type them at work.
Is the SnIPPETsX typing test free?
Yes. The typing test, coding typing practice, daily challenge and 1v1 typing races are free with no signup. Signing in only syncs your stats and personal bests across devices.
